The Uses of Sildenafil Over the Counter Drug

Erectile dysfunction, pulmonary arterial hypertension, and altitude sickness are 3 ailments that sildenafil over the counter (or commonly known to many as Viagra) can help with.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) or the failure of getting a penile erection hard enough to have successful sexual intercourse can be treated by taking sildenafil over the counter.  The main purpose of sildenafil over the counter or better known as Viagra is to treat impotence or erectile dysfunction.  Sildenafil over the counter is actually regarded as a standard treatment in almost all cases that lead to or cause erectile dysfunction, including diabetes.  Individuals who are easily prone to depression and take antidepressants may actually also experience sexual dysfunction, which can either be the result of their treatment or as a result of their illness.  A study conducted back in 2003 showed that sildenafil over the counter drugs greatly improved the sexual functions of men who are likely to encounter erectile dysfunction due to depression.  Checking up further on a report done in 1999, researchers also found out that taking sildenafil over the counter medications have greatly improved sexual function and drive in female subjects that were taking antidepressants as well.

Pulmonary hypertension or pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a rare condition in which sildenafil over the counter can help treat also.  It is a rare disease in which there is an increase of blood pressure in the pulmonary vein, artery or capillaries (collectively called lung vasculature), and if this happens, you will experience shortness of breath, fainting, dizziness, swelling around the feet and ankles, non-productive cough, etc.  Pulmonary hypertension can be fatal as it causes one to have a significantly a decreased tolerance in exercise (even doing very light physical activities is hard) and also heart failure.  When a person with PAH takes sildenafil over the counter, his or her pulmonary arterial wall relaxes, thereby decreasing pulmonary arterial pressure and resistance.  This leads to the reduction of the workload of the heart’s right ventricle and improves signs and symptoms seen in right-sided heart failure. Because the sildenafil over the counter medicine acts selectively in the lungs and penis, it does not cause vasodilation in other parts of the body.  The sildenafil over the counter medicine for pulmonary hypertension is called Revatio, not Viagra, and it appears as 20-mg round white tablets.
