The Institute of International Trade and Development - IDCID, founded in October 2003, is a result of the merger of the activities of other two non-governmental organisations: IBDCI - Brazilian Institute of International Trade Law and of CIITED - Brazilian Institute of International Trade, Information Technology and Development, both entities established by professors and academic members of the School of Law of the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC/SP) and of the University of São Paulo Law School (USP). IDCID is now a non-governmental and non-profit organisation, which aims to promote research activities and other advanced scholarly work in the fields of international trade law and development, guided by fundamental principles, such as the foment of international trade, selective inclusion of Brazil into the international exchange process and the expansion of the creation and distribution of wealth.
